Just imagine: mushrooms cooked to a glorious golden-brown perfection, then simmered in a garlicky tangy tomato sauce speckled with wisps of fresh basil. Pair it with warm crusty bread for sopping up every last bit of this creamy dish.
If you’re wondering why this recipe is aptly titled “Marry Me Mushrooms,” it’s because it’s deliciously-worthy of a marriage proposal (or a renewal of vows!). Truly, each bite will leave you swooning.
Ingredients For Making “Marry Me Mushrooms”

You need just one-pan and a handful of store-cupboard staples to stir together this intensely flavourful dish!
- Butter
- Mushrooms
- Garlic
- Seasonings of choice (oregano, chilli flakes, paprika etc)
- Tomato paste (or tomato puree)
- Cream (or a combination of cream and milk)
- Parmesan
- Fresh basil
You start by getting those mushrooms cooking in a hot pan until beautifully caramelized. Then comes garlic—lots of it—along with a hit of your favorite spices and seasonings to give it that extra kick. Stir in a spoonful of tomato paste, followed by cream to combine it all into a silky-smooth sultry sauce. Finish with fresh basil and lots of parmesan and DIVE IN!

Marry Me Mushrooms
Ingredients
- 1-2 tbsp butter
- 1-1½ cup mushrooms of choice
- 3-4 garlic cloves
- seasonings of choice (e.g. oregano, chilli flakes, paprika) ,as per your preference
- 1-2 tbsp tomato paste
- ⅓-½ cup cream (swap half the cream for milk if you like)
- ½ cup fresh basil, chopped
- ½ cup grated parmesan
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a non stick skillet on high heat
- Add your mushrooms and cook until fragrant and caramelised.
- Then stir in the minced garlic and your seasonings of choice. We have added oregano, chilli flakes, salt, pepper.

- Add the tomato paste, mixing to combine it well with the garlicky mushrooms.

- Pour in the cream and stir it into a smooth sauce.

- Let the sauce come to a lively simmer, then stir in your fresh basil and grated parmesan. Mix it well to combine.
- Taste and adjust seasonings. SERVE HOT with crusty bread and DIVE IN!
