It’s that zippy time of year again to refresh our wardrobes ahead of languorous months packed with summer soirées and al fresco cocktails, (un)planned beach getaways and sun-kissed sojourns!
I’m not sure about you, but I do find that it can sometimes be a tad discombobulating keeping up with the shifting trends, especially when each weaves a vastly-different – yet equally compelling – picture. Thank goodness then for the styling powers that be at the fashion emporium Harrods, shining light on the need-to-know looks for effortlessly making a style statement this season.
As Gemma, the spirited Head of Sales for Womenswear at Harrods, encapsulates – the 2019 summer edit is about kicking back and having fun. Think sparkles and embellishments, prints, playful aesthetics and colours running into sorbet and candy hues.

“Mix and match” is in, as is the return of the top – so pair a tee with a long billowing skirt, high-waisted trousers (Stella McMartney do a fabulous one in cobalt blue) or even blazer shorts (à la Balmain), for an easy on-the-go look.
Logo-mania continues, but with more subtlety and flair, with brands such as Fendi weaving their eye-catching logos into the design of the garment.
Androgynous tailoring is on it’s way out, with Australian resort-wear brand Zimmerman, leading the charge for unapologetically feminine cuts and statement silhouettes. Peter Pilotto is another designer to look out for, not least for his signature prints and structured elegance. There’s also an element of surprise in some of the most lust-worthy pieces of the season, particularly a sequinned Roland Mouret jumpsuit guised as a gown!

Strappy heels are seeing a comeback, injecting a dash of 90’s glamour (à la Sex and the City) to your everyday outfit. Jimmy Choo have a fabulous range as always.
It’s mules which are of course, the must-have shoe of the season, running the gamut from Chanel’s covetable Cruise Collection to Malone Souliers’ sophisticated yet fun-loving sandals. Slides and espadrilles are equally addictive, bringing comfort to the fore of fashion.

Just don’t forget to finish with a flourish, adding accessories with an intrinsic personality. We adore the oversized sparkly earrings from Parisian designer Alessandra Rich, not to mention a charismatic new collection of shoes from Christian Louboutin which are peppered with his photographs and eclectic inspirations, including heels fashioned to resemble the handle of a gun… SS19 Style Notes from Harrods continued & chronicled in the video below!
