Dalgona Coffee
Ayushi Gupta-Mehra | The Foodie Diaries
Inspired by the South Korean dalgona candy (a toffee sponge), this trending coffee is set apart by its distinctive dollop of whipped coffee foam sitting prettily atop a glass of cold milk. Equal parts instant coffee, sugar and hot water – here’s an effortlessly easy recipe for whipping it up at home.
- 2 tbsp instant coffee
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp hot water
- 200 ml milk
- ice cubes, as needed
Combine the coffee, sugar and a little hot water in a mixing bowl; and whisk using an electric beater or hand whisk. Keep going until the mixture is frothy and light. Fill a glass with ice, top it with milk, heap on the coffee foam (ideally 2 tbsp)… et voilà!
Vegans could always substitute milk with non-dairy alternatives (oat or almond mylk would be my top picks!); while non-coffee drinkers can also join in the party by swapping the instant coffee with matcha or cocoa powder.
