Weekend Edit: Things To Do in Bombay, Thursday 25 – Sunday 28 July

Welcome to your weekend edit, curating the best of what to do, see and of course, EAT, in Bombay. From must-visit art exhibits to a blink-and-you’ll-miss it pop-up by Bomra’s – here’s all that’s keeping us busy this coming weekend.

Modus Operandi II | In Situ: An Artist Studio

Where: Chemould Prescott Gallery

What: An exhibition of 21 gallery artists who have unpacked their studio, curating a selection of their practice at the institutional Chemould Prescott Gallery in Fort.

Showcasing iconic names from Atul and Anju Dodiya to Tanuja Rane and Bijoy Jain/ Studio Mumbai – the exhibit spotlights different modes and mediums of creating art, whilst highlighting the spectrum of sensibilities and inspirations drawn by contemporary artists. It’s also a perfect opportunity for collectors – whether amateur or seasoned- to expand their repertoire of contemporary works at relatively accessible prices.

Chemould Prescott Road, 3rd floor, Queens Mansion, G. Talwatkar Marg, Fort | The exhibition continues until August 17, 2019 | 11am- 7pm (Monday – Saturday)

Save The Tiger

Where: TAO Art Gallery

What: Curated by Kalpana Shah and Fawad Tamkanat at Worli’s iconoclast sea-facing Tao Gallery, this unique exhibit brings together over 80 sculptors and painters who have crafted masks celebrating the inimitable power and beauty of The Tiger. Look out for photographs by Rajesh Khanna, Urvi Piramal and father-daughter duo, Raj and Isheta Salgaocar too.

Tao Art Gallery, 65, The View, Dr Annie Besant Road, Worli | The show continues until Monday 12 August, daily between 11am- 7pm (Monday – Sunday)

Top Pick for Brunch This Week

Where: Cecconi’s Juhu

Why: The Sunday Feast at Cecconi’s is an effortlessly breezy affair, soundtracked in equal measure by the soulful jazz melodies of a live band, as by the soothing sounds of the waves gently crashing over Juhu Beach.

There’s a cocktail cart in rotation and all your favourite Italian dishes and desserts to choose from, served up with Cecconi’s characteristic charm. Of course a parade of people-watching isn’t amiss either, given the see-and-be-seen quality of this haute hangout!
